LG G7 ThinQ Focuses On Convenient AI Features
Every year LG comes up with a new flagship phone since the last few years, starting from LG G2 in 2013. But these flagship phones were taking people through the same process of excitement before the launch and then disappointing at the launch of the product. But thankfully, this is not the case with the new G7 ThinQ. Yesterday, at the launch event in New York, LG launched their new G7 ThinQ.
New aesthetic design
The LG G7 ThinQ is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. It comes in two variants: a 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, and the other one with a 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It is equipped with a stunning 6.1-inch bright display. The LG G7 ThinQ is sized perfectly to be used with one hand. The polished metal rim gives the LG G7 ThinQ a more polished look. It is complemented by Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and the back for enhanced durability. It is also rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.
Better camera with new features
The LG G7 ThinQ features with an 8MP front camera and a 16MP rear camera. It provides both standard and Super Wide Angle configurations. This is for higher resolution photos with more details. You can now capture images with less edge distortion and selfies that look more natural, all thanks to LG’s new signature wide angle camera.
The AI features were first debuted in the LG V30S. These have further been enhanced. AI CAM now offers 19 shooting modes for more intelligence-optimized shots. Users can improve their photos further by choosing among three other effect options.
Low light photography on the LG G7 ThinQ will be taken to a whole new level, thanks to the new Super Bright Camera. It gives out images that are up to four times brighter typical of photos shot in dim light. The AI algorithm adjusts the camera settings automatically when shooting in low light. It does this through the combination of pixel binning and software processing.
Live Photo mode records one second before and after the shutter is pressed. This way it provides snippets of unexpected moments or expressions which are usually missed.
Google lens features
LG G7 ThinQ will probably be the first devices to get the new Google Lens features. Google Lens is a new way to search using the latest in AI and computer vision. It can deliver more information on objects such as landmarks, plants, animals, books and also identify text. You can easily visit websites, add events to the calendar or look up an item on a restaurant menu- all from Google Lens.
The phone’s AI functions can be launched using a button that is right below the volume button. A single tap of this button will launch the Google Assistant. Two quick taps will launch Google Lens. You can also hold down the button to start talking to the Google Assistant.
Google Assistant
The Google Assistant will now recognize voice commands from up to five meters away, thanks to the Super Far Field Voice Recognition. SFFVR is able to separate commands from background noise. This will make G7 a great alternative to a home AI speaker.
Super bright display
The display is powered by LG’s new Super Bright Display. It can be viewed easily even under direct sunlight. The display on the G7 can be set to six different viewing modes which will depend on the type of the content. In Auto mode, the phone automatically analyzes the content of games or photos. It will then optimize the display and power consumption. You can then adjust the image even further by adjusting the screen temperature and RGB levels individually.
Boombox speakers
This is the first time that Boombox Speaker is available on an LG phone. It utilizes the internal space of the LG G7 ThinQ as a resonance chamber. It delivers double the bass of conventional smartphones for powerful “boombox” sound. The smartphone utilizes its resonance chamber as a woofer to amplify the bass effect even more when it is placed on a solid surface or box.
Coming in South Korea first
The LG G7 ThinQ will roll out in the coming days in South Korea. It will then be followed by major markets in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia. There has been no word on the price and purchase details.
