iOS 12: Everything You Need To Know About It
At the WWDC 2018, Apple announced the iOS 12 updates that we are going to see very soon on our iPhones. The company wasted no time and explained how iOS 12 will change your iPhones and iPads. iOS 12 is said to make your iPhones and iPads faster, more responsive, and even more fun to use. Today we are going to talk about some of the most important features of iOS 12 which we are excited to see and use.
Speedy performance
iOS has been enhanced in a way to boost the performance and have a responsive experience all around, be it an iPhone or an iPad. Basic things like launching the camera, or typing on the keyboard, will happen faster now. The enhancements will improve performance on all supported devices, which goes all the way back to iPhone 5S and iPad Air.
FaceTime with up to 32 people
FaceTime will now support video and audio calls with up to 32 people at once. Having too many people on the screen can be confusing, but Apple knows how to solve it. The tile of the person speaking will get larger automatically, so that you never lose track of the conversation. You will be able to start Group FaceTime directly from the group thread in Messages or join an active one at anytime.
Animoji
A new type of customizable Animoji is coming to iPhone X. It let’s you create a Memoji to match your personality and mood. You can make as many alter egos as you want to use in Messages and FaceTime. You can choose from four new Animoji. There is a koala, tiger, ghost, or T. rex. This will make your text Messages thread or FaceTime call on iPhone X fun. The Animoji are more expressive than ever.
Now you can add personality to Messages and FaceTime right from the in-app camera. You can quickly create and share a photo or video with Animoji, Memoji, cool filters, animated text effects, fun stickers, and more.
Sharing AR with your friends
ARKit 2 makes it possible for developers to create more immersive augmented reality experiences. Even multiple people can experience simultaneously. AR objects can now be sent with Messages and Mail. It can then be viewed in the real world. There is an AR app in iOS called Measure. It helps you measure real-world objects just by pointing your camera at them.
Screen time
iOS 12 will have a new feature called Screen Time. This will help you by giving you a better understanding of the time you and your kids spend using apps, visiting websites, and on your devices overall.
Notification management
There is also notification management in iOS 12. It gives you new ways to reduce interruptions throughout your day. You can now manage your notifications in real time from the Lock screen, sending notifications from a specific app to Notification Center or turning them off altogether. Siri gives you intelligent suggestions about alerts based on how you interact with them. And message threads and notification topics are grouped together, so it’s easier to see what’s important at a glance.
Do not disturb
iOS 12 offers more ways to manage your notifications. But then there are times where you don’t want to be disturbed by alerts, calls, or texts at all. You can set Do Not Disturb just for a meeting or a particular location and it will automatically turn off as soon as your event ends or you leave that location.
Sharing photos
The new For You tab shows moments from your photo library. It then intelligently suggests sharing photos with the people in them. Search Suggestions are a new way to help you find the exact photo you are looking for, or rediscovering a great one you forgot about.
Siri
Siri will be able to pair your daily routines with third party apps. It will suggest convenient shortcuts whenever you need them. You can also run shortcuts with your voice or create your own with the new Shortcuts app.
Privacy
For Apple, privacy is a fundamental human right. iOS has always been designed with built-in encryption that allows you to share things on your own terms. Safari now prevents Share button and comment widgets on web pages from tracking you without your permission. Safari will also prevent advertisers from collecting your device’s unique characteristics.
There’s a lot more
Above mentioned are some of the major features, and it feels like a lot. But that’s not it. iOS 12 has a lot more to offer. The developer preview of the iOS 12 is now available to Apple Developer Program members. A public beta program will be available to iOS users later this month. iOS 12 will be available this fall as a free software update for iPhone 5S and later. iPad Air and iPad Pro models, iPad 5th and 6th generation, iPod Touch 6th generation, and iPad Mini 2 and later, are the devices that will be able to run iOS12.
