Sony Walkman NW-ZX2 : To buy or not to buy?
When was the last time you heard a song on your iPod or your Walkman? Yeah, the same old bulky and creepy devices that were such a rage that you couldn’t imagine a day without it. And it was as that was the only luxury device which we had to ourselves during those times because the TV was always shared so was the telephone and there was no laptop or a tablet to your name. Many must have fought with their parents to get access to their Walkmans during exams.
Could you imagine that happening with the kids of this generation? Never. Though, one thing is for sure that a new age Walkman is soon making its way to the stores but will it make a smart buy this time around?
Sony Walkman NW-ZX2
Nowadays who needs a standalone device only for music? The situation demands that we have multi-purpose devices that can fulfil more needs than just the music. The swanky new music device from Sony, Walkman NW-ZX2 is a prettier take on the old Sony Walkmans which were like a status symbol for rich kids to flaunt.
Sony launched the Walkman NW-ZX2 recently at the International CES 2015 at a whopping price of $1119. Yes you read it right and we are not mistaken. But what if I wanted to call from Walkman NZ-ZX2, mail your client about the next meeting brief or WhatsApp a friend? Well then I would have to buy a separate smartphone for that which even has more or less the same quality of music.
Features of Sony Walkman NW-ZX2
If you are a billionaire who is not afraid to shell out a thousand bucks for a piece of device for a task which your phone can actually do better, then the Sony Walkman NW-ZX2. Well jokes apart, the cost of the walkman is justified as you don’t get a childish music player when you look at the device, but the result is actually good. The battery provides you to play non stop music for 60 long hours, now that is a welcome change if you are someone who is never able to enjoy their songs because of the constant push notifications and pings you get on your mobile.
The Walkman comes with a storage of 128 GB along with Micro SD storage options so that you have plenty of space to store enough songs, because who has cloud support and fast internet these days? The Walkman NW-ZX2 is the running on Android JellyBean 4.2 which is more than two years old now so this is really insignificant.
The Sony Walkman NW-ZX2 comes with the Google Play Store installed which says that it is approved by Google, but still an insane person would use an ancient Android update two years later when there is an update coming every few months. But again if music is the only thing on the cards for you, you probably will not care about all this and will never get into the technicalities.
If you ask me whether you should buy the Walkman NW-ZX2 or not, a strict No would be my only answer. It has been termed as one of the worst products at the International CES 2015 and if you have something to say about the Walkman NW-ZX2 which contradicts something that we have features, don’t hesitate to mention it in the comments below and we will surely take up the topic with equal enthusiasm.
