Take Perfect Selfies with Meitu’s New T8 Smartphone
Are you one of those people who click almost a hundred selfies daily and try on every new filter? For your filtering pleasure, the new Meitu T8 smartphone can help erase your dark undereye circles, whiten your teeth, and give you a goddess-like highlight. But here is a catch, it’s only available in China and there’s no word on whether it will make it to the U.S.
Meitu T8 is All About Selfies
Meitu is the company behind that app that gave you anime-esque makeovers late last year. The company just announced a new phone, and it’s all about selfies. It features a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 12-megapixel, dual-pixel front-facing camera, It also packs a MediaTek Helio X MT6797 processor, a 5.2-inch AMOLED display, 4GB of storage, and a 3,580mAh battery.
AI Beautification
Called AI Beautification, Meitu’s new selfie feature is competent to observe your skin tone, gender, and age, and then beautify you accordingly. It can do this even in a group picture. With the help of this feature, each face is enhanced differently for a better effect. The feature is also powerful enough to enhance a face in realtime for videos.

Meitu T8 comes with a powerful camera hardware in the form of dual-pixel sensor technology. It allows the sensor to capture more light. Meitu T8 features a 21-megapixel rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture and a 12-megapixel. It’s a dual-pixel front camera with an f/1.8 aperture. The company has added auto focus, optical image stabilization, along with noise-reducing ISP, and a smart fill light to the smartphone. The camera on Meitu T8 can also record high-definition videos at 1080p resolution with a 30-second frame rate.
After a picture is clicked, the software goes to work detecting the faces, skin tones, genders, and ages of everyone in the photo. It will then apply techniques such as whitening teeth, eliminating skin flaws, and applying a stylish filter to improve the image — all this in real time.
A Hexagonal Design
The T8 features a hexagonal design that’s found on previous Meitu phones, like the M6, which is another selfie phone announced last year. Supporting all that hardware is a deca-core MediaTek Helio X MT6797 chip, logged at 2.3GHz. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but with Meitu’s custom MeiOS skin, which includes features such as private albums and private home screens.
The T Series
The Meitu T8 is the third in a series of phones produced by the company. Each model was developed for a particular audience. While the M series is aimed at fashion-loving audience, the V series is considered the flagship model, with premium offerings. The new T series is for those with an interest in cutting-edge technologies. The T series blends features of both the M and V series.
Available Different Colors
The Meitu T8 will be available in four colors: Orange, Gold, Blue, and Grey. A Phantom Black special edition smartphone is also being made available. It has been co-designed by Hong Kong model and singer Angelababy.
