Don’t be in the impression of Ubuntu being the lacklustre competitor of Windows and Mac for years, Ubuntu smartphones will change the way how we look at Ubuntu. It has been a long way for Ubuntu to come up with a smartphone, more than two years and now finally Ubuntu has a smartphone to its name. The smartphone from Ubuntu is named Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition and it has been developed by BQ, which is a Spanish giant. BQ is the manufacturer, known for tablets and e-readers decided to adopt one of their Android based handsets to run on Ubuntu and has been priced at over $190, in what is supposed to be a flash sales all over Europe.

It is a unique way of releasing a smartphone. The Twitter followers of both Ubuntu and BQ will get an invite to buy this smartphone once the smartphone will be ready to buy. The price as stated above is around $190 in Europe and will be available in other parts of the world fairly soon.
Features of Ubuntu Smartphone
The Ubuntu smartphone is quite modest in pricing and the specifications are simple amazing in that price range. The phone has a 4.5 inch display and is available only on qHD resolution( 540 x 960) with a processor being a 1.3 GHz quad core Media Tek chip. The problem is that there is no LTE option with this smartphone and the storage capacity is just 8 GB. But, Aquaris allows memory via microSD card and even has two micro SIM slots for more flexibility. The 5 megapixel front facing camera is the highlight of this Ubuntu smartphone.

Aquaris E4.5 being the first ubuntu smartphone, there are people who are still skeptical about whether to go with the smartphone or should they wait for an update and the second edition of the smartphone after they rectify the mistakes in the smartphone, if any. The Ubuntu smartphone will be available for sale in the coming few days. Canonical has been trying to make an ubuntu based smartphone cum desktop, but now with BQ’s plunge into the ubuntu smartphone market, Canonical will be eager to compete with them.
By creating a hype on Social media about the Ubuntu smartphone, Aquaris is following in the footsteps of the Chinese mobile giant Xiaomi, which is very famous for their flashy sales and the numbers speak for themselves. Again, with the Ubuntu smartphone it will be a more thoughtful and a gradual process and everything has to fall in place to mark the future of the Ubuntu Smartphone.
