LG G4 – The Luxury Leather Smartphone Launched in Style!
LG’s latest flagship contender was launched in New York and London, the G4. Featuring a powerful six-core processor, enhanced quad-HD display, and a powerful 16-megapixel camera, the phone is expected to pose tough competition to Samsung Galaxy S6 and the HTC One M9.
LG G4 is now even upping the aesthetic quotient with an optional leather backing, giving a premium look to the smartphone. The phone was launched in Korea on April 29 and will be shipped to other countries in May and June.
The Quad-HD Display
The G4 sports a fantastic 5.5-inch LCD display that most people prefer nowadays. The quad-HD touchscreen compares favourably with its competitors with its 2560×1440-pixel resolution and 534 pixels per inch (ppi). The display is different from its predecessor with IPS Quantum Display and is 25 percent brighter than its previous QHD screens. The contrast is 50 percent better than G3 too.
One of the best parts of the display is its color accuracy which is new and improved, which results in brilliant red and blue tones. Also, it is similar to G Flex 2 in its curved display.
The Dynamic Design
LG includes multiple design options, since it is shipped with different kinds of material for back covers. There is leather over plastic as the first cover and available in light blue, black and tannish stitched leather. Two plastic back covers include a ceramic paint and metallic element too.
The handset looks similar to its previous iteration but is a bit slimmer, and a bit wider than before. As per reports, the leather cover feels good and gives a firm grip of the phone in the hand.
The G4 features a six-core Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB of RAM and even though it is not octa-core, LG has maintained that the new processor greatly improves the phone’s camera, imaging power and display performance. The 3,000mAh removable battery is said to have a longer run time than Galaxy while the back sports a 16-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture for clicking pictures in low-light conditions. The sensor is 40 percent larger, improved optical image stabilization (OIS) includes a laser-guided autofocus, which also consists of a color sensor for better color representation.
The front camera is fit enough for selfies and video chatting since it boasts of 8 megapixels resolution. The phone has a microSD card slot for expandable memory, to go with 32GB of inbuilt storage.
The G4 runs on the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop platform and also includes LG’s UX 4.0. The new feature LG Bulletin, dedicates a single homescreen page for widgets and works like HTC’s BlinkFeed.
There are three shooting modes – basic mode, a normal shot mode and Manual mode. Manual mode lets the user to change white balance, focus, brightness and ISO including the ability to shoot in RAW and JPEG formats.
It is expected by most market watchers that the G4’s pricing will be in the range of $200 with a carrier contract and would cost around $600 without the contract. In the UK, it is expected to be priced at £400 or AU$770 SIM-free. LG is also including a promotion with the smartphone, which is a whopping 100GB of data storage in Google Drive for 2 years, for free.
Comparison with other phones
The G4 does stand solid with an ultra-crisp display, a powerful camera and a swift processor and does have a strong face-off with other phones. The battery lasts longer than that of Galaxy S6, and as per tests, the camera is presumed to take better pictures than HTC One M9.
